Special 300th Anniversary Book

To recognise and celebrate the continuous provision of health care, training and research, and of Guy’s world-wide prominence in doing so, there will be a special edition of the GKT Gazette available free to subscribers or £20 for those who’d like to purchase a copy here.

This special edition of the Gazette will contain approximately 100 articles, covering as many aspects of of Guys Hospital History as possible about staff, patients, students and buildings; concentrating on the last 50 years since the celebrations after 250 years in 1976. Over 300 pages of illustrated Guys history.

Anniversary Programme of Events

There will be a programme of events will take place during the week including a ​Service of Celebration​, a ​Clinical Academic Symposium​ and a ​Gala Dinner​.

All those with strong connections to Guy’s are invited to attend the Guy’s 300th Anniversary events. Please review the details below and follow the links to secure tickets, prior to general release. All events will be limited by the venue capacity; hence early booking is recommended.

Guy’s Community Events

Throughout the week, there will be student and staff-led community activities in and around Guy’s, celebrating the present and future of health care at the hospital. Full details will be listed here closer to the date.

Service of Thanksgiving & Afternoon Tea

Thursday 7 May, 2-5:15pm, Southwark Cathedral & Guy’s Hospital

Join the Bishop of Southwark for a Service of Thanksgiving at Southwark Cathedral between 2-3pm, followed by afternoon tea in the grounds of Guy’s Hospital from 3:30-5:15pm. Tickets for each event are £20 and £25 respectively and sold separately.

Clinical Academic Symposium & Anniversary Lecture

Friday 8 May, 9am-5pm, New Hunts House Lecture Theatre

The symposium will provide insights and updates of key discoveries, practice and innovation, emanating from Guy’s and its present-day partners. Talks, roundtable discussions and displays will be drawn from across the breadth of health care, training and research, ongoing at the Guy’s campus. The final programme will be published at on the alumni events page.

The symposium is a free event, however admission will be by ticket only.

Reception, Gala Dinner & Dance

Friday 8 May, 6:45pm-late, Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster Bridge

The anniversary week culminates in a Reception, Gala Dinner and Dance at the Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster Bridge. Join us for a spectacular evening celebrating alongside your fellow members of the Guy’s community.

There will be tables of 10, so either book a table and organise together with your Guy’s peers and partners, or kindly indicate your year of graduation to allow groupings to be made. Tickets are £175 each.

A limited number of rooms are available at a discounted rate at the hotel for guests wishing to book accommodation. Bookings must be made directly through the hotel website and under the Rate Type tab, using the code G300 or Senior Citizen (as applicable).

Guy’s 300th Fund

To provide recognition of Guy’s Hospital reaching the landmark of 300 years of health care provision, training and research, a Guy’s 300th Fund will be established, offering support to health care students from diverse backgrounds, seeking to maintain the history of excellence in innovation, emanating from Guy’s, long into the future. The fund will be distributed through the Health Faculties of King’s College London. Please consider donating to the Guy’s 300th Fund here.
