About – GKT Gazette

The Guy’s, King’s College and St Thomas’ Hospitals (GKT) Gazette is the world’s oldest hospital journal, established as the Guy’s Hospital Gazette in 1872.

Its formal purpose is to act as a chronicle and critique of all events concerning the life of the constituent Schools of the Guy’s Kings and St Thomas’ Medical and Dental Schools (GKT) of King’s College London and their associated Hospitals. The Gazette serves the students, staff and alumni associated with each hospital campus.

The Gazette is produced by a student editorial team led by the editors and their editorial team, supported by staff from the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine, the faulty of Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Sciences and the School of Nursing and Midwifery and governed by a joint staff and student Gazette Committee.

Its contents are comprised of the following sections: Features, News and Opinion, Science and Research, Arts and Culture, Dental Corner, Nursing Corner and Sports, alongside letters and guest articles. Anyone affiliated with GKT, who holds a passion and an idea is able to contribute

Our Trustees and Outgoing Leadership

Our work at the Gazette would not be possible without the earnest support of our illustrious senior committee and trustees, spearheaded by Prof. Stephen Challacombe, Mr Bill Edwards, Dr Rupert Austin, Prof. Janice Rymer, Dr Simon Hughes and Dr Sam Thenabadu.

This year also marks the departure of Morgan Bailey (Editor-In-Chief 2022-2026) and Arnav Umranikar (Deputy Editor in-Chief 2022-2024 and principal author of Guy’s Hospital: 300 Years), whose seminal work has been invaluable for the magazine’s current prosperity. We also saw the departure of long-term editors and section leads Noor Amir Khan, Sammer Atta, Jing Yuan Chan and Nana Ossei.
